At Butterfly World you
will view thousands of live butterflies from allover
the world. Opened in 1988, it is the first showplace
of its kind in the Western Hemisphere and largest butterfly
educational and breeding facility in the world.
This exquisite Tropical
Garden is encompassed by four large screened aviaries,
a sanctuary for thousands of butterflies representing
dozens of species. Inside you will find waterfalls,
ponds filled with colorful fish, a flowering basket
walk, cases of pupae with new butterflies emerging,
breathtaking orchids and more live butterflies than
have ever been assembled in one place in the U.S.
New to the gardens is
a Hummingbird Aviary opened in March, 1996 as well as
a suspension bridge spanning the lake. Our new aviary
is home to Hummingbirds from Peru, Surinam, and the
U.S.
Upon entering Butterfly
World, visitors are offered self guided information
which is available in German, French, Spanish as well
as English. To make your visit more enjoyable, you will
find tour guides in the gardens to help you with information
and any questions that you might have. There are benches
placed in lovely spots enticing one to sit and drink
in the beauty.
Visitors will observe
caterpillars munching away on their plants in the breeding
laboratory, enjoy the international collection of insects
and butterflies in the museum and stroll through the
flowering vine walk and rose garden. Many South Florida
butterflies can be seen fluttering in the extensive
gardens because of a large variety of butterfly attracting
plants.
To complete a visit,
there is an outdoor cafe, plant shop and first rate
gift shop where one can find the unusual and lovely
take-home gifts.
Butterfly World is conveniently
located just West of the Florida Turnpike on Sample

Monday through Saturday and 1 pm -Spm on Sunday. The
admission gate closes every day at 4pm. Admission rates
